The Windows Registry Editor contains information about all Windows systems and installed program user accounts.
If there is a problem with the registry information, there is a possibility that the worst situation that Windows can not startup may occur. So when editing registry information, you need to pay close attention.
Backing up the registry value
▼ If you back up Windows registry information before editing the registry key, you can restore it in case of emergency, by clicking File > 2Export and Save it.

Access fails
If you try to create or modify, delete the Windows registry key, you may receive an error message that says you do not have permission to edit the key.
▼ In some cases, the user account must be authorized to edit the registry key. For example, you might create a new key as follows.

▼ When creating a new key as above, sometimes an error message will be displayed, Cannot create key: You do not have the requisite permissions to create a new key under (key name).

If this is the case, you can resolve the problem by obtaining access to the key.
Acquire permission
Let’s set it up so that user accounts can access permissions for a specific registry keys that require permissions.
Before setting, the registry is where the system information is stored. If not set correctly, the computer may not work properly. It is recommended that you back up the registry key before you modify the registry.
▼ First, 1right click on the target registry key, click 2“Permissions…“.

▼ The following “Permission for (key name)” window below appears. Click the 1
button.
▼ ”Advanced Security Settings for (key name)” window will be displayed. Click the 1
button.
▼ In the “Permission Entry for (Key name)” window, click 1Select a Principal.

▼ In the “Select user or Group“, click the 1
button.
▼ To find the user account to which you want to assign permissions, click the 1
button below.
▼ To grant the permissions in the “Search results:” list, select the 1user account or group name, and click 2
button.
▼ The 1user or group name selected above is displayed in the “Enter the object name to select” field . Click 2
button.
Assigning permissions
▼ The 1account of permission was displayed as follows. To what extent to grant permission, select 2one in the “Applies to:” field, and 3check Full Control in the “Basic permissions”. Click the 4
button.
▼ A new 1user account has been added to the list of “Permission entries:”. Click 2
button to close the setting windows.
▼ A user account who is authorized to permission has been added. Click 1
buton. The Setting is finished.
▼ Now, you can create a new key as below.

Delete permissions
▼ If the user account with permission is no longer needed, in the “Permissions” window, select 1“user account” specified above and click the 2
button, and click 3 button.
▼ Click 1
button.
Before deleting a registry key
One thing to keep in mind before deleting the key that is no longer needed, is that if you delete an account that was granted permissions, the key created by the permissions of the deleted account will not be able to be deleted at a later time.
▼ After deleting your account, if you try to delete your key, you’ll see an error message like the one below. Then you need to assign permissions to the account again.

While the account to which the permission is granted exists, you must delete the key.
