[Windows10] How to log in automatically without entering the password when Windows starts

In Windows 10, you can log in automatically when you start Windows by setting it to auto login without entering a password.

Automatic login is a useful feature, but because everyone is able to access the computer, there is a risk of letting others peek at data such as your personal information on your PC.

How to sign in

▼First, type 1netplwiz in the search box next to start button, and click netplwiz in the search results.

▼ Or, as shown below, Press Windows + Rkey and open Run. Enter 1netplwiz in the text field, click 2OK button.

▼ The User Accounts window opens. On the Users tab, select the 1User Name that you want to change to automatic login in the “Users for this computer:” list.

Next, uncheck 2Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.” and then click the 3OK button.

Enter password for Local Account

▼You will then be prompted to enter your user name and password. Enter the 1Password and Confirm Password for the User Account. Click the 2OK button.

▼If the “password” and the “confirmation password” do not match, the following error message is displayed.

▼Result, when you restart Windows 10, entering password is skipped and the automatic login is done.

Enter password for Microsoft Account

▼ Select the 1User Name, and uncheck 2Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.” same as local accounts. Click the 3OK button.

▼ Enter the 1Password and Confirm Password of Microsoft account for the User name with Local account. Click the 2OK button.

▼ When you restart Windows 10, entering password is skipped and the automatic login is done.

If multiple user names exist

▼ If multiple user accounts exist as shown below, user account selected for automatic login among them has a priority for Windows login. For example, BestFriends

▼For example, if selecting the user name “BestFriends” among the following three user accounts and set it to automatic login, Windows login will be “BestFriends”.

▼ Enter the 1Password and Confirm Password for the User name with Local account, and click the 2OK button.

PIN

When setting automatic sign-in of User account with PIN, you must enter the password of the Microsoft account, but even if incorrectly entering the PIN code, the password error message will not occur and setting is completed normally.

▼ However, when you restart Windows and an error message, The user name or password is incorrect. Try again. on the automatic sign-in screen will be displayed as below, because of incorrect password.

In this case, you can log-in again without problems by entering the password of “Microsoft account” again. So, the password you enter when setting up for automatic sign-in is “Microsoft Account”, not “PIN”.

Resetting PIN

To stop automatic logins, go back to the first step above, Check “Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.“, and then clcik OK button.

However, the problem here is that the password on the login screen has become changed to the password of “Microsoft account” instead of “PIN”.

In other words, if you first set to an automatic login of “Microsoft account” with a PIN code, and then re-enter the password again, the Windows login method will be replaced with the password of “Microsoft account” instead of the original PIN code.
